Running a Yoga studio gives me a great deal of insight into the benefits of group yoga practice. From these observations, I have compiled below the top 5 benefits I see from doing group yoga Practice. This is by no means disparaging a home practice. I am, as everyone knows, a huge fan of having a daily personal practice. In fact, for serious practitioners a daily home meditation and yoga practice is a must. In this article I am simply pointing out the best of what I find in doing a group yoga practice.

BENEFIT 1: ENERGY!!

Without a doubt a group kundalini yoga class a has different level of Energy. It is palpable and easily noticeable. This energy serves to uplift and inspire all that are participating. This is most common feedback I get from students after a class. This energy not only helps all the yogis during the class, but, persists even after the class to keep your level of being raised. In fact, there are some classes where this energy is so high and so good that afterwards I can feel the after glow that it creates in everyone present. It is quite common that you enter the class feeling lethargic and down and leave the class fully charged and vitalized.

Interestingly, recently after a Gentle Yoga and Meditation class, a new student approached me and confessed that during the period of meditation, which we do after finishing our Kundalini Yoga practice, he saw fields of blue energy approaching him from all directions. If you have not participated in a group Kundalini Yoga class, I suggest you find one in your area and get ready for a memorable experience.

BENEFIT 2: More Consistency & Intensity

As I have said many times, one of the hardest things about a yoga and meditation practice is consistency. Many people know the well documented benefits of these giants of spiritual sciences, but, still not a significant percentage establish a strong regular practice. This is where group yoga practice can be especially helpful. Just get yourself to class. That’s all. Don’t allow the mind to deter you with its endless excuses.

The mind and body are probably going to resist your practice, because they are loosing their grip over you as a consequence of it. By practicing Yoga and Meditation you are allowing your spirit to emerge, which will then govern your life and usurp the strangle hold that the mind and body have been asserting on you. So just make it to class. Once you are there, you will be surprised how much you will be able to do. In a class atmosphere you will not only do your practice, but, you will do it with greater intensity. This will go a long way in helping you integrate yoga and meditation into your lifestyle and helping you to create a consistent deep daily spiritual practice.

BENEFIT 3: Learn from Each Other’s Experiences

After each Kundalini Yoga & Meditation class we have a question answer period. During this time students get to ask and discuss common issues and problems they are running into. In addition to this, the students also often discuss amongst themselves their experiences and thoughts on Kundalini Yoga, Meditation, Living a spiritual life etc. This is a great way to make progress on the spiritual path. One can learn much from the knowledge another has acquired and a group class really facilitates this.

BENEFIT 4: Share Resources

Music, books, DVDs etc. are all valuable components for your yoga and meditation practice and practicing in a group allows you share these resources with each other. Give, give and then give some more. That should be your attitude in life and you tend to find more of that in those who have discovered their spiritual dimension. Thus, I find a group yoga class a great collection of fantastic people always willing to give and share their resources with others.

BENEFIT 5: Make Friends With Like Minded People

Yoga and meditation practice not only give you great benefits, but, in exchange require that you live up to a higher standard. This often means making changes to your social life and people you associate it. It all happens quite naturally actually. In the extreme case it can even lead to changes to your life partner or just changes to your friends and acquaintances.

What a group yoga class provides is an opportunity to befriend and share your life with those who are living at a similar wave length as you. Generally, you and your fellow yogis will have a similar high value system and will gravitate towards wholesome, holistic living. These important commonalities often lay down the foundation for great friendships to emerge.

Recently reported by tvnz.co.nz/national-news, a grieving family turn to psychic for help. The New Zealand family torn apart by the death of their daughter has turned to medium Kelvin Cruickshank for help.

Goldstone has remained tight lipped on the events of that fateful night and so the family turned to Cruickshank in order to gain some closure. They are grappling with the fact Samantha could die at the hands of her partner and say some of the facts do not add up.

“All along I’ve struggled with how someone could be that stupid to have a loaded gun and point it at someone then physically pull the trigger,” says Samantha’s father, Dave.

They picked Cruickshank to help, as Samantha’s mother, Rachel, says out of the psychics they have seen “he was the one that was always so bang on”.

When Cruickshank made contact with Samantha’s spirit she sent a happy birthday message through Cruickshank to her mum. But it was her use of a nickname no-one outside of their family knows that turned Dave from a sceptic into a believer.

She bought the name “Pixie” in, which Rachel says is a name Samantha and Dave used to call her because of her ears.

“There was only Sam and Dave that knew that, so there was no way that he could have known that,” Rachel says.

This gave them confidence to believe the other information Cruickshank gave them about the day Samantha died.

Cruickshank said he got the feeling through Samantha’s spirit that Goldstone was on drugs at the time.

“He’s on something, there’s got to be some sort of reference to him being stoned or wasted or whatever and he snaps just like an owner of a dog to an animal. I can tell you he was high, high as a kite,” Cruickshank said.

Goldstone refused a toxicology test.

Dave said the reference to drugs made sense to him and actually gave him a little bit of peace of mind.

Cruickshank also said Samantha told him “with intent”.

However, there was never any evidence of intent, which is why Goldstone was charged with manslaughter, not murder.

Cruickshank said Samantha let him know she did not suffer, which Rachel said is the best she could hope for.

Samantha also expressed that she wants her daughter Hope to be with her parents.

As for those who say the family are silly for believing Cruickshank, Rachel says she does not care.

“I didn’t do this for everybody else or for anyone else to have an opinion.

“I did this for me and for Dave and for our kids, just to give us a sense of peace,” says Rachel.

The medium Kelvin Cruickshank was born in a small town on New Zealand’s North Island, and claims that from an early age he was aware of his psychic abilities because he could see people that other children could not. When he reached adulthood the visitors became harder to ignore and Kelvin realized that these visitors had messages which were meant to be delivered to others.

Just like Ekta, who has complete faith in friend and tarot card reader Sunita Menon, Kangana consults astrologer Pallavi Shinde, who also happens to be her close pal.

“I do believe in astrology and there is no harm in that. I also tell people to try it out but only if you find someone good. There are too many fakes these days,” Kangana says.

It was chats on astrology which got Kangawna and Ekta together. And that’s why she could muster enough courage to suggest to Ekta that she respell the title of her next film.

“Since Ekta is a close friend, I told her to add an extra ‘ a’ in Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai and she agreed,” Kangna says.

“I usually don’t do this,” she adds. Ekta, of course, was glad to get some advice. Let’s hope the extra ‘ a’ works wonders for the film at the box office.

Have you recently ended a relationship or are you recently divorced? Are you thinking about dating again? Many times, putting yourself back into the dating scene is a good idea. But how can you know when it is time to start a new relationship?

Here are 4 Reasons Not To Start A Relationship:

Reason 1: You are not fully over your last relationship, or still have hope of reconciliation.

If you still fantasize about getting back with your partner, then you are not truly available for another relationship. Is there really a possibility of reconciliation, or are you making up the possibility? If there really is a possibility, then it is certainly not time to date. If the relationship is really over, then you need to fully accept this before moving on to another relationship. As long as you are in denial about the relationship being over, you are not fully available for another relationship.

Reason 2: Yur partner has died, and you do not feel ready for a new relationship.

If you had a loving relationship with your deceased partner, then any time you feel ready is fine. You already know how to have a good relationship, so there is a good chance of having another good relationship when you feel ready for it.

Reason 3: You have not admitted your part in why the last relationship ended.

When a relationship goes on the rocks, it is because each partner is contributing to the problems. It is always fairly easy to see what the other person did that caused problems, but much harder to see what you did.

It may be necessary for you to have therapeutic help in understanding your end of the relationship issues. I have been working with individuals and couples for 40 years and I have seen that people tend to repeat the same patterns in relationships over and over unless they do some healing work. Even if, at the beginning, a new relationship looks different from your other relationships, there is a good possibility that it will end up the same.

Most relationships create a system with one person being a caretaker and the other being a taker. These roles can switch in different relationships and around different issues. Unless you heal your tendencies to be a caretaker or a taker, you will continue to create relationship systems that don’t work.

Underneath all relationship dysfunction are control issues. Whether you control with anger, righteousness, blame, judgment, compliance, resistance, or withdrawal of love, until you heal the fear underlying all controlling behavior, you will continue to create relationship problems.

This does not mean that these issues need to be healed before starting a new relationship, but it does mean is that you need to be in the process of healing to have a chance at a good relationship.

Reason 4: You do not feel available for a new relationship.

Most people have two bottom-line fears when it comes to relationships: the fear of rejection and the fear of engulfment, which means the fear of losing the other or the fear of losing yourself. These are deep fears that start in childhood and may continue throughout your life, making it difficult for you to be fully emotionally available in a relationship.

These fears do not just go away. Until you develop a powerful loving adult self, you may take rejection personally and not know how to handle loss. Without a strong loving inner adult, you may allow others to control you, giving yourself up to prevent rejection.

Again, these fears do not need to be healed before starting a relationship, but unless you are in the process of healing them and continue to do healing work within a relationship, there is a good chance that you will recreate another unsuccessful relationship.

A relationship is a wonderful arena for healing and growth when both people are devoted to learning to be a strong loving adult. If you are on a devoted healing and learning path, make sure that your new partner is too!

We spend up to 7 years of our lives dreaming

We all average about five to seven dreams a night (even if we don’t remember them) and will spend approximately five to seven full years of our lifetime dreaming.

Dreams are the language of the soul

Dreams are the language of the soul. They are spirit informing mind with the purpose of bringing wholeness and healing in our lives. Dreams serve two main functions: 1). * Get a good night’s sleep. Dreams get progressively longer peaking in the 6th, 7th, and 8th hours of sleep.

* You will establish the habit of remembering your dreams by journaling them for the next 30 days.

* Start with a sincere intent to learn from your dreams to better yourself and live purposefully.

* What emotional feeling are you left with? Feelings are more accurate and truthful than words in dreams.

* You are made up of 80 percent water. The state of water in your dreams often reflects your emotional state.

* Write a simple story line. Summarize your dream in one sentence and express the main theme.

* Ask: “Why did my soul have this experience? What do I need to understand? What issues need working?”

The topic of psychic dependency being both compelling and dangerous is one close to my heart. This is because psychic practitioners not only can rely indirectly on your need for information but can also feed the danger if they do not separate their ego and professionalism from their own deep personal needs when delivering information to you.

I believe that many self-proclaimed psychics have discovered and learned their craft through trauma. Now this on its own is of little importance unless it becomes coupled dangerously with a psychic’s sense of self and purpose and runs out via their ego. When a person, in general, is attached to and dependent on whom they want to be presented as being (as opposed to whom they really are) and they are also inflexible to understand that in time their level of professionalism needs to grow and develop rather than be reliant on the same old tricks, this can become a fatal combination and draw in others who share their dependency.

I always remember a visit to a psychic we’ll call ‘Barry from Bankstown’ on one of my random trips back home to Sydney a few years ago. I decided to be one of the girls for the day and also get a reading, so the group sent me in first! This way they could see my reaction and decide if they wanted to go as well.

‘Barry from Bankstown’, as we now fondly call him, came out in a black jumpsuit, with high collar, big belt and little red devils on it to announce that he was booked out weeks in advance and that we were lucky to have secured an appointment so quickly.

When I went in, ‘Barry’ asked me to shuffle the tarot cards and as I was doing this I was amazed at how much paraphernalia he had in his little booth in the crystal shop where he was based. I’ve never seen an array like it – crystals, devil ornaments, third eye ornaments and other weird and wonderful talismans.

Then he asked me what my seven worst worries were that he could sort for me – I thought it an odd thing to ask as I had never seen this approach before. So I responded that I loved my life but was here because I was curious about anything that may come in from my Guides. At this point he got very annoyed as I challenged him on the need for so much negativity and, a few insults later about his belief that women are unable to be intuitive, he ultimately told me to get out as he was very busily booked and only needed people who had ‘real issues for him to work out!’

Now this may seem a bit out of the ordinary – yet in fact it is not. He was simply much more extreme than the usual, run of the mill, helpful psychics attached to their identity.

As I thought of all the talismans in ‘Barry’s’ little cupboard I could clearly see how he both preyed on and worked with people’s fears and dependency. You see, living in that area are many foreigners who believe in the power of the evil eye, will want curses and such removed and will have terrible (or so perceived) secrets that they need to discuss for clarity. ‘Barry’ simply honed in on them and marketed himself both physically and emotionally to cater to them. Thus, he fed people’s fears which generated dependency and also could dangerously influence the decisions these clients were making.

So how do we recognize dependency and the danger it can cause both from a psychic and a client perspective?

I believe that psychics do not need to see a client more than at absolute most three times a year for a full reading to cover off all the issues. An accurate and quality psychic will give undiluted information to a client and then respects the client’s decision in how to manage the situation.

Good psychics recognize dependency when a client cannot make a decision – on every topic in their life – without consultation with them. An honest psychic will know that this person needs more than psychic guidance and may need some possible counselling assistance as there are greater issues at play with them.

As a client, you will know you have dependency when you feel COMPELLED to voice all your thoughts, actions and non-actions to your psychic before you ever take action. Have you ever felt panic before your decision making because you no longer feel you can make decisions without a third party instruction?

This becomes very dangerous when psychics feel compelled to be always sprouting their intuition and words to all who come in contact with them – in social situations, privately and at work. You will know it is dangerous as a client when you no longer feel you have any CAPACITY to action your decisions.

Beware if your psychic has your number on speed dial and is always offering advice and if you have their number on your speed dial and are always asking.

Some tips to avoiding psychic dependency include:

Tip 1. Go in to your psychic with specific areas you want covered and ask the questions – do not give the background to the question. This way they cannot assume what is happening and build from it.

Tip 2. Go to your reading with the expectation that each and every psychic reads very differently and no way is wrong as such – just different. However, if you feel that someone is overwhelmingly negative – work with your instincts on that.

Tip 3. Go to your reading having asked about how the psychic reads, when they first learned to read, what they love about their work and what is the benefit is of seeing this particular type of reader over any other. If the psychic replies anything along the genre of ‘I love to help people and it is my mission in life to do so’ – RUN. It is not their mission. A psychic’s mission is to simply be a conduit for Spirit and be good and honest about it. The outcome is the clarity and help it offers people.

Finally, when you walk into a psychic, reader, medium, clairvoyant or whatever else you wish to title them, and they know so much about you because you are there all the time, then stop. Why? I believe that once a psychic gets to know you very well their capacity to tune in becomes redundant to some degree. And the question of a psychic’s practical knowledge dictating the information given to you versus their talent dictating the information needs to be asked.

So if you do feel dependent on a psychic how do you know when your guidance from them has run its course? The answer is simple. A good psychic will let you know when you no longer need to present to them as you now must go and live the information and guidance given to you. The other types do not.
